Tom Nieto and Jason Borofka started the company G Funk Baits out of necessity. Once the Alabama rig came out and was the craze everywhere, we knew we had to start learning how to fish these unique lures. However, we grew tired of the many flaws the rigs on the market presented. This included, fouling of the baits during the cast, poor components and design flaws. We quickly figured out we needed to stager the lure to funnel the bass to the hooked portion of the rig. This solved two issues, fouling during the cast and getting the bass to eat the hooked portion of the lure. Unlike other parts of the country, the west coast either has a 3 hook max or a 2 hook max per lure. We spent two years field testing and finally came up with the ultimate umbrella rig, the G-Rig.
